The architectural user experience is an area of intense personal interest for me, and that interest can be traced back to this project in my Studio 1 class. For this particular project we were given a predefined recipe of experiences, and the assignment was to create a sequence of spaces that incorporated each experience in the recipe.
As the site for my project, I selected a cliff near Big Sur, California, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Located on this cliff is the Visitor’s Center for the fictional Kazumura Aquarium and Kazumura Caves State Park. Guests then take a funicular down into the cliff to access the restaurant, aquarium, and caves: (click on the graphic below to enlarge)
