New Academic Building @ ISD

The New Academic Building is a brand new classroom building for the International School of Denver, which is designed to support both the Lower School and Middle School populations. The New Academic Building includes a library, art and music spaces, science labs, a maker space, classrooms, and faculty support spaces. Additionally the building is designed to accommodate a future rooftop addition.

Challenges: Located on a former military base, the site was particularly challenging as it is riddled with easements and a network of active underground utilities (which all required relocation), and other site hazards which require mitigation.

What makes it special: ISD is a private school that teaches the International Baccalaureate curriculum. To our knowledge this is the first new classroom building specifically designed to support the unique strengths of the IB Middle Years Programme.
